Please follow the steps below to proceed the troubleshooting when you failed to open port successfully on the MERCUSYS routers.

Step1.Make sure the server is accessible from internal network

Please double check the IP address and the port number of the server that you opened port for. You can check if you can access that server in the local network.

If you are unable to get access to the server in internal network please check settings of your server.

Step 2: Check the settings on the port forwarding page

When step 1 is confirmed no issue, please check if the rules being edited under the forwarding>--virtual server correctly.

Here is an instruction on port forwarding process on the MERCUSYS wireless router, please refer to this guidance to check if everything is correctly done:

How do I open ports on the MERCUSYS Wireless N Router?

Note: If you failed to access the server after forwarding, please confirm it has no problem being accessed in the local network when using the same port.

Step 3: Pay attention to the WAN IP address in status page

If step 1 and 2 confirmed no problem, but you still fails to access the server remotely. Please check the WAN IP address on the status page of the router, and verify it’s a public IP address. If it is a private IP address, which means there is an extra router/NAT in front of the MERCUSYS router, and you have to open the same port as your server’s for MERCUSYS router on that router/NAT.

(Note: private IP range: 10.0.0.0—10.255.255.255; 172.16.0.0—172.31.255.255; 192.168.0.0—192.168.255.255)
