For MERCUSYS 4Grouter and LTE mobile Wi-Fi, the SSID (wireless network name), wireless password, and security options are preset in the factory. The default SSID and password can be found on the product label. You can customize the wireless settings according to your needs.
Follow the steps below to specify the basic wireless settings of your 4G Router & LTE Mobile Wi-Fi.
Note:
• Features may vary from different MERCUSYS models.
Via MERCUSYS App:
1. Get the MERCUSYS app from App Store or Google Play, or by scanning the QR code.
2. Launch the app and log in with your MERCUSYS ID.
Note: If you don’t have an account, create one first.
3. Go to Network > Wi-Fi Settings or More > Wi-Fi.
4. Change the Wireless Network Name (SSID) and Wireless Password according to your needs.
Via Web Management Page:
1. Connect your wireless device to the Router or Mobile Wi-Fi. If it is a computer, make sure it is set up with the TCP/IP Protocol in Obtain an IP address automatically mode.
2. Launch a web browser and visit http://mwlogin.net or http://192.168.1.1. Create a password for future logins.
For Mobile Wi-Fi:
1) Go to Advanced > Wireless > Basic Settings.
2) Change the Wireless Network Name (SSID) and Wireless Password according to your needs.
Note: If you use a wireless device to change the wireless settings, you will be disconnected when the settings are effective. Please write down the new SSID and password for future use.
3) If you want to hide SSID, turn off SSID Broadcast. Your SSID won’t display when you scan for a local wireless network list on your wireless device, and you need to manually join the network.
4) Keep the default Channel, Wireless Mode, and Wireless Security unless required.
5) Save the settings.
For Router:
1) Go to the Wireless page.
To enable or disable the wireless function:
Enable the 2.4GHz or 5GHz Wireless Network. If you don’t want to use the wireless function, just uncheck the box. If you disable the wireless function, all the wireless settings won’t be effective.
To change the wireless network name (SSID) and wireless password:
Enter a new SSID. The default SSID is Mercusys_XXXX, and the value is case-sensitive.
Note: If you use a wireless device to change the wireless settings, you will be disconnected when the settings are effective. Please write down the new SSID and password for future use.
To enable the Smart Connect function:
Smart Connect allows your mobile device to automatically switch to the Wi-Fi band at the fastest speed. Toggle on to enable this feature.
Note: the smart connect feature is only supported on certain models capable of utilizing both 2.4G and 5G bands.
To hide SSID:
Select Hide SSID, and your SSID will not broadcast. Your SSID won’t display when you scan for a local wireless network list on your wireless device, and you need to manually join the network.
To change the mode or channel:
Go to Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings page.
• Mode - Select the desired mode: 802.11n only, 802.11g/n mixed, 802.11b/g/n mixed, 802.11ac only, 802.11ac/n mixed, 802.11a/n/ac mixed.
Note: When 802.11n only mode is selected, only 802.11n wireless stations can connect to the router. It is strongly recommended that you select 802.11b/g/n mixed (for 2.4GHz) and 802.1 a/n/ac mixed (for 5GHz), and all of 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n, and 802.11ac wireless stations can connect to the router.
• Channel - Select the channel you want to use from the drop-down list. This field determines which operating frequency will be used. It is not necessary to change the wireless channel unless you notice interference problems with another nearby access point.
• Channel Width - Select the channel width from the drop-down list. The default setting is Auto, which can adjust the channel width for your clients automatically.
• Transmit Power - Select either High, Middle, or Low to specify the data transmit power. The default and recommended setting is High.
To change the security option:
Go to Advanced > Wireless > Wireless Settings page. Then select an option from the Security drop-down list. The router provides four options: None, WPA/WPA2 Personal (Recommended), WPA/WPA2 Enterprise, and WEP. WPA2 uses the newest standard, and the security level is the highest. We recommend you don’t change the default settings unless necessary.
